Normally DOT (Department Of Transportation) physicals may not be billed to insurance companies. They are either billed to the employer or Provider may collect money from the person. Therefore, these services can be priced at the provider’s discretion, and it is not necessary to use a CPT code. The diagnosis code would be either V70.3 (Other general medical examination for administrative purposes) or V70.5 (Health examination of defined subpopulation)
Please note that you should not report CPT codes 99455 - 99456 (work-related or medical-disability examinations) or 99381 - 99397 (Preventive services). You may report CPT 99499 for documentation purposes.
