CPT 99477 Description: CPT 99477 may be reported when the provider provides an initial day of inpatient hospital evaluation and management for a newborn (28 days or younger).
The newborn baby requires frequent interventions, observation, and intensive care.

CPT 99478 Description: CPT 99478 can be reported when the provider provides direct care of a recovering low birthweight (current weight is less than 1500 grams) infant.
