CPT Code 31575 | Description, Procedure & Billing Guidelines (2022)
You can report CPT 31575 when a provider performs a diagnostic procedure with a flexible laryngoscope to detect abnormalities inside the patient’s larynx.
1. What Is CPT Code 31575?
CPT 31575 covers a procedure in which a provider uses a flexible laryngoscope to detect abnormalities inside the voice box (also called the larynx).
The CPT book describes CPT 31575 as follows: “Laryngoscopy, flexible; diagnostic.”
The provider begins the 31575 CPT code procedure with anesthetizing and prepping a patient before they insert the flexible laryngoscope.
The flexible laryngoscope is normally inserted into the nose of the patient. It gives the provider a view of the;
- hypopharyngeal structures;
- laryngeal structures; and
- vocal folds.
Then, the provider pulls back the flexible laryngoscope and ends this diagnostic procedure.
