CPT 31575 covers a procedure in which a provider uses a flexible laryngoscope to detect abnormalities inside the voice box (also called the larynx).
2. Description
The CPT book describes CPT 31575 as follows: “Laryngoscopy, flexible; diagnostic.”
3. Procedure
The provider begins the 31575 CPT code procedure with anesthetizing and prepping a patient before they insert the flexible laryngoscope.
The flexible laryngoscope is normally inserted into the nose of the patient. It gives the provider a view of the;
- larynx;
- throat;
- nose;
- hypopharyngeal structures;
- laryngeal structures; and
- vocal folds.
Then, the provider pulls back the flexible laryngoscope and ends this diagnostic procedure.
4. How To Use CPT Code 31575
You can not use CPT code 31575 with CPT 31231 except for procedures performed for a separate condition using a separate endoscope.
