CPT Code 99222
CPT 99222 describes initial hospital inpatient or observation care per day for the evaluation and management of a patient, requiring a moderate level of medical decision-making and a total time of 55 minutes or more on the encounter date.
CPT Code 99223
CPT 99223 describes initial hospital inpatient or observation care per day for the evaluation and management of a patient that requires a medically appropriate history and/or examination and a high level of medical decision-making, with a total time on the date of the encounter of least 75 minutes.
