Our busy AAAHC-accredited Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking an experienced Medical Biller / Collector to join our revenue cycle team. This position is responsible for accurate claim submission, insurance follow-up, denial resolution, payment posting, and patient account collections for surgical facility claims.
Responsibilities include submitting accurate electronic claims for ambulatory surgery procedures, reviewing operative reports and billing details, following up on unpaid or denied claims with Medicare and commercial payers, preparing and submitting appeals with supporting documentation, posting insurance and patient payments accurately, reconciling EOBs and payment variances, reducing outstanding accounts receivable balances, resolving claim edits and eligibility issues, communicating with physician offices regarding authorizations or coding questions, generating patient statements and assisting with payment plans, maintaining HIPAA compliance, and assisting with month-end revenue reconciliation and reporting.
Qualifications: Minimum 2 years of medical billing and collections experience; Ambulatory Surgery Center or surgical billing experience strongly preferred; knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers, and UB/HCFA claim forms; experience with Medicare, workers’ comp, and commercial insurance follow-up; strong denial management and appeals experience; familiarity with surgery scheduling, authorizations, and operative documentation; excellent Excel and billing software skills; strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Preferred: Experience billing facility fees, implants, and orthopedics; knowledge of Hawaii payer rules; experience with HST, SRS, or surgery center EMR/PM systems.
