Medical Biller/Coder

Warm Valley Health Care

Warm Valley Health Care is seeking a Medical Biller/Coder to join their Billing/Coding department. The role involves translating healthcare services into standardized codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) for insurance billing and ensuring accurate reimbursement. Key duties include reviewing patient records for accuracy and compliance, preparing and submitting claims, following up on unpaid claims, resolving billing issues, posting payments, generating patient statements, maintaining HIPAA compliance, and assisting with audits and reporting.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred), certification as a CPC, CCS, CPB, or similar, and 1-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding in a healthcare setting. Extensive Medicare and Medicaid billing experience is required. Proficiency with billing software, EHRs, and Microsoft Office is expected along with strong organizational and communication skills.

Preference is given to qualified Eastern Shoshone tribal members, other federally recognized Indian tribal members, then other candidates. Veteran preference points are available. Employment is contingent on negative drug test, reference checks, and background check.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Certification as CPC, CCS, CPB, or similar credentials.
  • 1-3 years of medical billing and coding experience in healthcare.
  • Extensive Medicare and Medicaid billing experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, insurance billing procedures.
  • Experience with billing software, EHRs, Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
