Job Summary
Revenue Cycle Billing Specialist completes accurate and timely essential tasks within the revenue cycle management department while supporting other company strategies and goals. This role is responsible for completing tasks efficiently, rebilling denied claims appropriately and on time, and supporting additional intercompany or third-party vendor work that contributes to positive revenue cycle outcomes.
The position involves frequent communication with patients, families, contracted facility staff, insurance payers, and third-party vendors, requiring a high level of customer service and professionalism. The role reports to the Revenue Cycle Manager and supports the organization in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Essential Functions
- Complete accurate and timely billing and rebilling of claims in a third-party billing system, including payer information, denials, rejections, and other errors.
- Research payers and patient ID numbers for updates as needed.
- Update Electronic Medical Record demographics as appropriate.
- Contribute positively to department performance goals.
- Complete required training and optimize performance across tasks.
- Manage time efficiently and effectively.
- Participate in continuous process improvement efforts.
- Maintain a high degree of customer service and professionalism.
- Follow standard operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and medical office software.
- Experience in healthcare billing, adjustments, and remittance research.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to approach department tasks positively and meet or exceed goals.
- Knowledge of payers, billing, and regulatory compliance, or willingness to proactively obtain it.
- Knowledge of revenue cycle processes, or willingness to proactively obtain it.

- Experience billing in CA, OR, SC, GA, and OK is helpful but not required.
