Responsible for assisting with functions associated with billing and third-party payers. The role focuses on identifying delinquent accounts, managing aging balances, contacting patients regarding collections, resubmitting claims when needed, and helping reduce days in accounts receivable.
This position also supports patient financial discussions, payment plan arrangements, and overflow customer service calls while maintaining accurate and current documentation.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of medical collections experience preferred
- Experience with medical practice billing software required
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding and electronic billing
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, staff, patients, families, and physicians' staff
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions and re-prioritize tasks
- Proficiency in medical terminology
- Detail-oriented
