The Medical Billing Specialist will support revenue cycle operations by handling inbound patient calls, resolving billing questions, and following up on outstanding balances. This role involves working with patient statements, insurance information, EOBs/RA, adjustments, refunds, correspondence, and account reconciliation while maintaining quality, production, and HIPAA standards.
Key responsibilities
- Communicate with up to 50 patients per day by phone and email in a professional and courteous manner.
- Answer questions about patient statements, billing, and related account issues.
- Reconcile patient accounts and help ensure statement accuracy.
- Interpret Explanations of Benefits (EOB) or Remittance Advice (RA).
- Explain billing statements and related methodology.
- Maintain accurate records of collection activity according to company procedures.
- Process requests quickly, accurately, and consistently under general supervision.
- Submit adjustment and refund requests when needed.
- Keep management informed of concerns and issues.
- Assist with monthly closing activities by ensuring all required information is entered into the system.
- Process credit card payments.
- Monitor hardship applications.
- Process correspondence as assigned.
- Follow all HIPAA guidelines.
