Medical Billing Claims Specialist

Summit Spine and Joint Centers (SSJC) is a rapidly growing, multi-state interventional pain management group practice providing integrated clinical, surgical, and imaging services. With clinic locations across Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, SSJC is committed to collaboration, high-quality patient-centered care, and supporting its teams as it continues to expand.

This position is remote, with the ideal candidate located in Georgia and able to be present at the administrative office in North Carolina, South Carolina, or near Austin, Texas where part of the billing team is located.

In this role, you will support medical billing and claims operations for office visits, outpatient procedures, urinary drug screens, DME, MRI, and chronic care management. You will work closely with billing staff and management to ensure accurate claim submission, resolve clearinghouse rejections, handle payer and patient inquiries, and support month-end closing deadlines.

Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing or revenue cycle within a medical setting.

  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance plans, workers' compensation, and personal injury cases
  • Knowledge of claims submission for office visits, outpatient procedures, urinary drug screens, DME, MRI, and chronic care management
  • Understanding of medical billing rules, coordination of benefits, modifiers, EOBs, and ANSI code denials
  • Excellent knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding, as well as medical pre-certification protocols
  • Familiarity with ERAs, EOBs, payer-specific and LCD guidelines, and eligibility verification
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing applications, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience using eClinicalWorks preferred
  • Pain management experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Strong communication, multitasking, prioritization, and adaptability skills in a fast-paced team environment
