The role reports to the Director of Revenue Cycle Management and supports the centralized billing and reimbursement team with charge entry, payment posting, patient account management, accounts receivable follow-up, and resolution of payment discrepancies. The specialist is also responsible for submitting claims electronically and on paper, working denied claims, and helping maintain accurate billing records.
• Excellent customer service skills and professional phone manner • Ability to work well in a team environment • Ability to triage priorities, delegate tasks when needed, and handle conflict appropriately • 3 to 5 years of experience in a medical office setting • Prior EMR / practice management software experience strongly desired, especially Central Reach or AdvancedMD • 3 years of medical billing experience required • High school diploma or equivalent required • Certification as a Medical Billing Specialist or Professional Coder through an accredited organization preferred • Knowledge of medical billing and coding, preferably in Applied Behavior Analysis services • Knowledge of insurance guidelines, including Medicaid and commercial plans • Knowledge of out-of-network billing and insurance appeals
