A well-established and growing medical billing company based in Downtown Orlando is seeking an experienced account manager to join its team.
The Senior Billing Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations and is responsible for managing client accounts, coordinating billing functions, maximizing cash flow, and improving patient, physician, and customer relations. This role requires strong leadership, business office, project management, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
This is an in-person position only.
Major duties and responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day tasks of client medical billing services with the billing team, including claims submissions, payment postings, accounts receivable follow-up, and reimbursement management.
- Oversee billing and claims for accuracy, completeness, timely submission, and compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations, guidelines, and requirements.
- Generate, analyze, and manage daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to identify trends impacting charges, denials, and collections, and recommend process improvements.
- Ensure billing operations follow department and organization protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in the development and implementation of operating policies and procedures.
- Meet with management to review collection reports, reduce denials, share carrier rule changes, and distribute information within the office.
- Supervise professional and patient billing personnel, including work allocation, training, problem resolution, and performance evaluation.
- Provide customer service by phone and in office for clients and authorized representatives regarding patient accounts.
- Research billing, coding, managed care networks, insurance carriers, and reimbursement issues.
- Monitor reimbursement from managed care networks and insurance carriers to ensure contract-rate consistency.
- Maintain proficiency with EMR software, including patient registration, charge entry, insurance processing, advanced collections, reports, and ledger inquiry.
- Provide cross-coverage for account managers as needed.
- Maintain organized information regarding coding, insurance carriers, managed care networks, and credentialing.
- Maintain an organized, efficient, and professional work environment.
- Adhere to HIPAA and Medicare compliance policies.
Qualifications
- Preferred 4+ years of experience in a medical office reimbursement department
- Preferred minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience
- Experience with EMR management software
- Strong background in accounts receivable
- Experience with CPT and ICD-10 codes, HCFA 1500 and UB-04 claim forms
- Experience with billing and insurance regulations, medical terminology, insurance benefits, and appeal processes
- Strong communication skills for interaction with physicians, patients, insurance representatives, and medical billing staff
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Must maintain HIPAA standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and professional
- Strong customer service orientation
