Optima Medical is an Arizona-based medical group with 30 locations and more than 130 medical providers serving over 200,000 patients statewide. The organization provides a broad range of healthcare services, including primary care, cardiovascular health, behavioral health, allergy testing and immunotherapy, in-house lab testing, imaging, chronic disease management, and other specialty services.
This position will transition to a fully remote role after up to 30 days of onsite training in Scottsdale. Candidates must reside in Arizona and remain in good standing during training to be eligible for remote work.
The Medical Coding Specialist is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning accurate diagnosis and procedure codes while supporting coding compliance, claim reviews, denials, and revenue integrity efforts.
Minimum 2 years of medical coding experience in a physician practice or healthcare facility
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required; AAPC or AHIMA certification accepted
No CPC-A or CCA accepted
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
Experience with EHR systems, billing software, and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining high accuracy
Strong written communication skills with the ability to provide clear and professional feedback
Knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and physiology to accurately interpret provider documentation
