The UP Self Pay Patient Account Representative supports University Physicians by reviewing and analyzing patient accounts for billing accuracy and potential placement for further collection activity. The role requires learning and understanding the revenue cycle at a high level, identifying processing issues, and working across multiple data systems to complete daily tasks.
This position is primarily remote and is eligible for the University Physicians Work from Home program. Some team members may be required to work from the home office at the Quarter Deck Building for 1 to 2 days per week as assigned.
Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The role also includes processing financial applications from the public and handling personal information with extreme sensitivity.
Minimum qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two years of clerical experience, with education potentially substituted for experience
Preferred qualifications
- Exposure to medical insurance or billing processes
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Ability to quickly learn new software systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work, self-motivate, and adapt to changing assignments and procedures
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision after training
- Quiet home workspace for remote work
- Willingness to complete extensive training, including in-person and virtual instruction for up to 6 months
