Responsible for overseeing assigned medical collectors and supporting revenue cycle collections operations. This role includes leading weekly team huddles, reviewing performance and training needs, ensuring production metrics are met, and providing guidance to resolve workflow or training issues.
Key duties include working assigned claim volume efficiently, following billing and collection procedures, researching and resolving unpaid or denied claims, responding to insurance correspondence, escalating team issues, and providing regular written updates to leadership.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years of experience with insurance collections and follow-up
- Knowledge of in-network and out-of-network facility and physician claims
- Understanding of HIPAA, healthcare regulations, and compliance
- Strong knowledge of revenue cycle processes, claims processing, and denial resolution
- Experience with commercial payers such as UHC, Cigna, Aetna, BCBS, Marketplace plans, and Humana
- Experience preparing and submitting claims for facility, physician, and specialist services
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret EOBs
- Experience identifying claims requiring appeal and managing the appeals process
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and negotiating skills
- Experience in a production-based environment with performance targets
- Knowledge of EPower and Centricity preferred
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Windows-based applications
- Typing speed of 45–60 WPM
- Leadership training or prior leadership experience preferred
