The Medical Billing Specialist supports individuals and families by helping them access and maintain services through financial counseling, insurance guidance, and billing support. This role works closely with third-party payers, Intake, and Finance teams to reduce financial barriers, coordinate benefits and payment options, and help prevent disruptions in service delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

Assisting clients with insurance-related financial issues, billing disputes, payment plans, and financial assistance applications
Verifying coverage, explaining benefits and limits, and notifying clients of lapses or non-covered services
Collecting co-payments and documenting payments accurately
Running eligibility reports and maintaining accurate financial assistance records
Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to support continuity of care and timely claims processing

Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

Associate degree in healthcare, billing, accounting, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience with a high school diploma may be considered
Knowledge of public and private health insurance required
Experience with electronic medical records preferred
Strong phone etiquette and customer service skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
