OCHIN is a nonprofit health care innovation organization supporting a national provider network focused on expanding patient access and improving care for rural and medically underserved communities.
The Medical Billing Specialist provides accurate and timely revenue cycle and account management services to member clients. This role supports billing operations, claim resolution, compliance with payer requirements, and continuous process improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing claims and managing accounts receivable
- Resolving billing issues and claim denials
- Supporting member clinics and patients with billing-related inquiries
- Preparing documentation for clean claim submission when needed
- Collaborating with internal partners and stakeholders
- Maintaining organized daily workflows and deadlines
- Applying knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system and OCHIN billing tools
- Performing other duties as assigned
This is a remote position with nationwide travel potential based on business needs, including up to 20% travel for on-site go-live support.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Billing and/or coding revenue cycle experience preferred
- Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, MVA, workers' compensation, and private insurance billing and reimbursement processes preferred
- California billing experience highly preferred
- FQHC experience and knowledge preferred
- Dental billing experience preferred
- Medical Billing Certification from AAPC preferred
- Rural hospital experience required for acute care hospital work
- Ability to complete a 50–60 minute competency assessment prior to team interview
- Ability to work independently from a distraction-free home office
- High-speed internet service required
- Ability to travel nationally as needed
- Must be able to work on camera for virtual meetings
