The Billing and Collections Specialist is responsible for accurate, timely, and complete documentation related to insurance verification, billing, and collections.
Key responsibilities include preparing and monitoring monthly billing and collection processes, verifying Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial benefits and prior authorizations, identifying patient responsibility from EOBs, compiling refund and adjustment information, and managing claim resolution efforts through calls, letters, and faxes.
This role also involves handling medical documentation such as UB04 and 1500 claim forms, interpreting correspondence and contract details, writing appeals to insurance carriers, managing a large claims portfolio, complying with privacy requirements, and participating in monthly accounts receivable reviews with management.
The position is eligible for a hybrid/remote model after 90 days, with a schedule of 3 days remote and 2 days in office.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Three or more years of experience in a related field required.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of commercial insurance and Medicare/Medicaid required.
