Billing Representative III (Accounts Receivable)

Position summary

Join the NYU Langone Florida team as a Billing Representative III focused on accounts receivable and advanced billing support.

The role handles complex billing and financial clearance activities, including claims management, denial resolution, insurance authorizations, precertifications, and patient cost estimates. It also supports escalated issues, training, and process improvement efforts.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform billing tasks assigned by management, such as data entry, claim review, charge review, and accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Review and act on assigned work queues using billing systems, payer websites, and internal guidance.
  • Identify payer, credentialing, and coding issues and escalate them appropriately.
  • Review reports to identify revenue opportunities, unpaid claims, and authorization delays.
  • Communicate with providers, patients, coders, and other stakeholders to ensure proper claim processing.
  • Appeal complex denials using payer policies, coding, contracts, and medical records.
  • Cross-cover additional office functions such as accounts receivable/denials, customer service, or authorizations.
  • Participate in workgroups, meetings, training sessions, and process improvement activities.
  • Support patient experience and access by communicating professionally and resolving inquiries in a timely manner.
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, insurance, or a related role.
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10.
  • Experience with medical billing software.
  • Basic math, English grammar, and spelling skills.
  • Light, accurate keyboarding skills.
  • Preferred typing speed of 35 words per minute or greater.
