Charge Capture Specialist

The Charge Capture Specialist reports to the Supervisor of Billing and performs all pre-claim submission activities, including verifying information accuracy, determining when additional data is needed, and collecting necessary details. The position ensures timely and accurate entry of codes and modifiers, stays current on system and coding changes, and works charge review queues so claims are clean and can be paid promptly by insurers.

This is a hybrid position requiring one day on site and four days remote/work from home.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing and auditing charge tickets to identify missed charges and inaccuracies before entry
  • Performing charge entry, charge review queue work, and charge reconciliation
  • Communicating with physicians to resolve identified issues
  • Maintaining knowledge of coding, medical billing processes, and relevant regulations
  • Assisting with audits to capture missed charges and confirm billing accuracy
  • Performing manual charge entry using demographic, insurance, and encounter information
  • Ensuring accurate and timely data entry with appropriate account comments
  • Responding to internal and external inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Requirements & Qualifications

Requirements and qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2 years of experience in medical billing, charge entry, or other revenue cycle functions preferred
  • Knowledge of current coding and medical billing processes
  • Ability to accurately verify and enter demographic, insurance, and encounter information
  • Strong communication skills for working with physicians and internal departments
