LearnWell supports students with mental health conditions through academic and wellness services. This role is part of a medical billing team serving behavioral healthcare practices in Massachusetts and New York.
The Billing & Collections Specialist will help manage accounts receivable, work with clinicians, insurance companies, patients, and internal teams, and support revenue cycle operations in a behavioral health setting.
Responsibilities include:
- Clearing daily billing batches and resolving errors before transmission
- Collecting patient payments, updating payment methods, and setting up payment plans
- Following up with payers and patients on outstanding balances
- Verifying insurance benefits and eligibility through online portals
- Reading and interpreting EOBs and ERAs
- Identifying, researching, and escalating account discrepancies
- Responding to patient and clinician emails and voicemails within 48 hours
- Using EMR and RCM platforms effectively
- Analyzing report data in Microsoft Excel
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 2+ years of experience in behavioral health medical billing
- Experience with high-volume medical collections
- Strong understanding of medical billing, prior authorizations, insurance appeals, and reprocessing efforts
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus
