New York and New Jersey Eye Institute is seeking a full-time Ophthalmologic Biller for its Orangeburg office.
This role is part of the Business Office and is responsible for billing, follow-up, and collection of insurance claims, maintaining correspondence with carriers, and coordinating with the accounts receivable supervisor to resolve problem accounts.
Office hours are generally 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office
- Billing and collections experience preferred
- Dependable and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail

Responsibilities
- Handle full collection procedures for patients
- Process and mail bills weekly
- Generate monthly accounts receivable reports for accounts 60+ days past due
- Contact overdue accounts and establish payment plans when appropriate
- Maintain daily logs and follow up on non-payments
- Determine which accounts over 90 days require tracer letters
- Review claim status and send tracer letters for unpaid claims
- Monitor prior correspondence and send stronger follow-up letters when needed
- Meet weekly with the accounts receivable supervisor regarding problem accounts
- Monitor appointment schedules for patients with open balances over 90 days
- Take calls from patients and insurance carriers regarding account issues
- Review aging reports and prioritize accounts requiring immediate attention
- Assist receptionist with overflow calls and support checkout staff as needed
