This role works closely with practice leaders, coding vendors, and revenue cycle leadership to help maintain billing accuracy and timely reimbursement.
Key responsibilities include reviewing and completing claims and itemized bills, monitoring reports for discrepancies, supporting billing workflow improvements, and training support staff on proper billing procedures. The position also serves as a resource for clinical and non-clinical staff on revenue cycle processes.
- Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience
- Experience in health care customer service
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding methods
- Understanding of insurance payors, prior authorizations, and eligibility requirements
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions with attention to detail
- Ability to problem solve, monitor and track data, identify trends, and create solutions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
- Experience with Apex/Epic preferred
- Coding specialist certification preferred
- High school diploma or GED required
