Patient Account Representative

Conifer Health Solutions

Responsible for working patient accounts to ensure timely resolution across the revenue cycle. The role involves follow-up on claim submission, remittance review, insurance collections, and pursuing disputed balances from government and non-government payors.

Key responsibilities include researching account activity, contacting third-party payors and patients, updating demographic and insurance information, documenting account actions, identifying billing or coding issues, requesting rebills or corrected claims, and escalating aged or delayed accounts. The position also supports team productivity, special projects, and compliance with state and federal managed care requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in business administration or accounting preferred
  • 1-4 years of medical claims and/or hospital collections experience
  • Strong understanding of the revenue cycle, including patient access, billing, insurance appeals, and collections
  • Knowledge of Commercial, Managed Care, Medicare, and Medicaid collections
  • Familiarity with EOBs, UB-04, and HCFA 1500 forms
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, especially Word and Excel
  • Ability to learn hospital systems quickly
  • Minimum typing speed of 45 wpm
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
