Under general supervision of the CFO and/or Business Office Manager, the Medical Biller participates in patient accounts and receivable functions, including billing, charge entry, collections, payment posting, and credit balance resolution. The role may also involve reconciling daily reports, balancing monthly transactions, and providing summaries to finance and administration.
Responsibilities include:
- Tracking claims or charges and monitoring third-party payers
- Informing the Billing Supervisor/CFO of insurance issues related to third-party billing
- Updating patient accounts
- Contacting payers to obtain claim status
- Ensuring physician billing activities meet requirements
- Resubmitting claims and handling appeals/denials, including CMS-1500 claims
- Performing other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
The position requires:
- Three years of paid medical billing/collections experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience with billing and claim submission
- Experience with revenue cycle collections
- Knowledge of patient accounting and business office procedures
- Excellent mathematical, written, and verbal communication skills
