Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is a large federally qualified health center serving medically underserved and uninsured communities across San Diego County.
The organization operates more than 90 sites and provides a broad range of medical, behavioral health, dental, vision, rehabilitation, and specialty services.
This role supports the accounts receivable and billing functions by preparing claims, posting payments, resolving denials, collecting patient balances, and maintaining accurate documentation and electronic records.
The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to community medicine and culturally competent care for underserved populations.
- At least 2 years of experience with high-volume medical billing and third-party payors
- High school diploma or GED required
- Related technical school training or equivalent medical field experience preferred
- Ability to complete data entry accurately and at a relatively high speed
- Basic computer literacy, including use of systems to manage appointments and access electronic medical records
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and mathematics
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of CMS, Medi-Cal, Medicare, Workers' Compensation, and private insurance preferred
- CRT and ten-key experience preferred
- Must have a valid California driver’s license, automobile, and required insurance
- Occasional travel between sites and other locations required
- Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, typically 8:00am–5:00pm or 8:30am–5:30pm
