We are hiring a Senior Patient Account Representative to assist with updating patient medical accounts and work closely with the rest of the team. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational and communication skills, the ability to learn quickly, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key responsibilities
- Understand a variety of insurance carriers, including Medicaid, Medicare, HMOs, Workers' Compensation, No Fault, and contracted and non-contracted plans.
- Maintain patient records, including patient demographics and payment and medical insurance information.
- Process patient payments and refunds.
- Identify medical coding mistakes, underpayments, and overpayments and resolve them.
- Communicate with medical insurance providers to verify eligibility, payments, and denials.
- Send supporting documentation to government sites.
- Manage work queues, aging lists, reports, and claims correspondence to ensure timely and accurate account payment.
- Verify billing data for completeness and accuracy and correct errors.
- Review and respond to third-party, integrity, and special audits.
- Review the status of patient accounts and determine the appropriate course of action for resolution.
- Adjust, void, and submit bills through a scrubbing system.
- Interface with physicians and administrators to support financial growth and stability.
- Monitor fee structures, reimbursement schedules, cash deposits, and refunds.
- Serve as a resource for resolving complex billing situations.
- Guide billing and clerical staff on billing and office functions.
- Coordinate clinical documentation requests to support timely appeals.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve billing and maximize collections.
- Recommend improvements for financial management across billing areas.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- Associate's degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience required.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in accounts receivable, customer service, or a related professional office environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and billing.
- Familiarity with hospital systems such as Invision, SSI, MRT, Eagle, Keane, Soarian, Myability, and AEOS.
- Knowledge of HMS, OMIG, RAC, and OIG audits.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Strong research and problem-solving abilities.
- Positive and friendly attitude.
