The Revenue Cycle Specialist I supports hospital billing and collections for inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and professional services. This role performs a mix of revenue cycle functions, including third-party insurance billing, payer denial review, appeals processing, payment application, credit balance resolution, self-pay collections, financial assistance support, and bad debt processing.
The position works under the direction of the Supervisor and is based at the Support Center on a regular full-time schedule of 80 hours every two weeks with day shift hours.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of experience in a healthcare setting
- Background in hospital and/or professional accounts receivable
- Working knowledge of reimbursement requirements for healthcare payers
- Preferred knowledge of self-pay or insurance billing and collections
- Preferred familiarity with UB-04, CMS-1500, and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) interpretation
- Preferred knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifiers
- Preferred understanding of medical reimbursement policies and procedures
- Epic EHR experience preferred
