This role focuses on communicating with patients, government agencies, and third-party payers to gather, process, and record information needed to receive appropriate reimbursement. The position also works with departments on charge information, coding updates, and claim appeal-related information. It completes billing and collection processes, reviews unpaid claims, and works to resolve reimbursement issues.
Education and work experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Associate's or technical degree preferred
- Medical billing and collections experience preferred

Essential functions
- Reviews, corrects, and submits claims to payers
- Reviews unpaid accounts and initiates collection actions
- Follows up to ensure expected results are achieved
- Meets or exceeds productivity and quality expectations
- Reviews past due and denied claims and calculates write-offs and debit/credit adjustments
- Provides general office support as needed
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
