Billing Representative II

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Billing Representative, you will help patients and providers streamline the billing and insurance process so they can focus on patient care and financial well-being.

You will review and process patient accounts, insurance claims, and payment postings, ensure accurate and timely billing, follow up on denied claims, and maintain patient confidentiality.

Key responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the Accounts Receivable Representative II role
  • Read and interpret invoice details
  • Perform patient registration in IDX
  • Handle rejection posting in IDX
  • Use medical records systems
  • Navigate insurance payer websites
  • Read and interpret EOBs from various insurance carriers
  • Apply FSC knowledge, including FSC flipping rules
  • Apply charge correction rules
  • Understand claim edits and resolve them
  • Manage multiple expectations, tasks, and deadlines effectively
  • Review electronic communication in a timely manner to stay informed of changes affecting the role
  • Research and analyze accounts thoroughly to determine appropriate actions
  • Organize and manage caseloads to ensure follow-through on claims that did not reach resolution during initial processing

Dignity Health Medical Foundation, established in 1993, is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation with care centers throughout California. It is an affiliate of Dignity Health, one of the largest health systems in the nation, serving communities across California, Arizona, and Nevada.

Requirements & Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years of experience working in healthcare revenue cycle or a professional medical office
  • Knowledge of physician billing regulations
  • Understanding of professional claims and billing procedures
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations applicable to government and insurance collections
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of computers and proficiency with email systems, internet, and Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or other education in Healthcare Administration or a related field
  • 5 years of experience working in healthcare revenue cycle or a professional medical office
  • 1 year of experience with IDX practice management system and Cerner EHR
  • Knowledge of Google Suite
