The Patient Accounts Billing Representative is responsible for reviewing unbilled claims and bills, ensuring timely billing and claim resolution to expedite payment. This role processes accounts to minimize billing time and maximize cash flow, completes claim editing in the HIS system, processes claims on paper or electronically to third-party carriers, follows up on aged accounts, and reviews trial balance reports and late charges.
Key responsibilities include billing compliance, claim edits, rebilling, refunds, adjustments, correspondence handling, and responding to billing inquiries from patients and insurers.
Education and experience
- High school graduate required
- Clerical experience required
- Clerical and business aptitude with 1 to 2 years of hospital experience
- Ability to use basic office equipment and knowledge of CTR computer terminals is a plus
- Medical terminology helpful but not mandatory
- HBI (Healthcare Business Insights) one-time certification course required during onboarding and before start date
