Requirements & Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical coding education, or an active coding certification in lieu of coding education
Experience
- 2 years of progressive inpatient facility coding experience required
- 2 or more years of inpatient facility coding experience in an Academic Medical Center and/or Level 1 Trauma Center preferred
- Graduate of a Health Information Technology program preferred
Certifications
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
- CCS or CIC required; additional RHIT or RHIA may be applicable per posting
