Optum is hiring a SDS/Observations Medical Coder to support outpatient ambulatory observation services. This full-time role is Monday through Friday and allows telecommuting from anywhere within the U.S.
The coder will be responsible for accurate CPT and ICD-10 coding, review of CCI and medical necessity edits, abstraction of chart data, and provider documentation feedback as needed. The role supports coding quality, productivity, and ongoing education within the coding operations team.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current AHIMA or AAPC coding credential: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H
- 2+ years of outpatient facility coding experience
- 2+ years of Same Day Surgery coding experience
- 2+ years of ICD-10 experience
- Intermediate proficiency with Windows, including MS Excel and EMR systems
Telecommuting Requirements
- Dedicated work area separated from other living areas and providing information privacy
- Ability to keep company sensitive documents secure
- Must reside in a location that can receive UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet service
- Must comply with UnitedHealth Group telecommuter policy
