We are seeking a Coding Specialist II to support anesthesiology and critical care medicine coding operations, with responsibility for coding accuracy, quality assurance, and compliance with federal payer documentation guidelines. This role works closely with departmental leadership, the Clinical Practice Association, and the Office of Billing Quality Assurance to review documentation, resolve charge edits, and help maintain clean claim submission processes.
The position also serves as a departmental resource for coding questions, supports compliance efforts through training and education, and helps ensure billing accuracy through encounter verification and review of medical records.
Minimum qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of coding experience with demonstrated analytical skills.
- Coursework in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, or equivalent knowledge.
- CPC certification or department-approved certification.
- Experience with Medicare regulations.
- Ability to substitute additional education for experience, or additional related experience for education, as permitted by JHU policy.
Preferred qualifications
- Epic experience.
- Understanding of third-party payer issues.
