This remote role focuses on physician coding and documentation improvement for professional services. The specialist facilitates compliant coding and documentation for accurate diagnosis, E&M, and CPT assignment, monitors medical record documentation for adherence to industry guidelines and regulations, and provides provider feedback and education to support code selection and documentation quality.
The position is remote, but candidates must reside in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Alabama.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree in health information management preferred
Credentials
- CPC or CCS-P required
- Physician coding and training certification required
Experience
- 2 years of experience in a professional coding role
- Monitoring and education experience preferred
- ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding experience required
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of pathophysiology and disease processes
- Strong understanding of physician coding and reimbursement guidelines, laws, and regulations
