Overview
Anne Arundel Dermatology is seeking a Coding Auditor and Educator to support revenue cycle operations and health information management functions with a focus on coding accuracy, documentation integrity, compliance, and provider education.
This role works closely with physicians, non-physician providers, billing specialists, revenue managers, and leadership to improve charge capture, reduce denials, and strengthen coding compliance. The position includes chart review, abstraction, audit review, provider education, and collaboration with ModMed to improve workflow.
This is a remote position, but candidates must reside in the Eastern time zone.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of E&M coding, surgical procedures, and applicable modifiers
- Strong understanding of Medicare guidelines, ICD-10-CM, and CPT-4 coding conventions
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease processes, and surgical techniques
- Ability to become a ModMed expert and support provider documentation workflows
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort presenting coding topics to large groups and answering questions in real time
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and provide written audit results and improvement recommendations
- Knowledge of coding compliance risks, including Inspector General watch list items and payer medical necessity requirements
Education and Experience
- Associate degree required
- Completion of a certified medical coding program or equivalent professional coding education
- Two certifications required, including CPC and CPMA
- 4 years of coding experience
- At least 2 years of surgical abstraction experience in physician billing practices
- Dermatology experience preferred
