Job Summary
The Coding & Documentation Educator analyzes medical record documentation for HCC accuracy, documentation quality, and educational opportunities. The role provides clinical documentation and coding education to physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare providers, with a focus on accurate, specific, and complete documentation.
This position serves as a subject matter expert in clinical documentation and coding best practices, supports program development and performance, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve risk adjustment and coding outcomes. The role is primarily remote support from Florida with occasional travel to the Rocky Mountain and Mid-America regions.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of coding experience, or experience with clinical documentation reviews and provider education
- Strong background in ICD-10-CM coding
- Knowledge of healthcare operations, medical terminology, and medical reporting
- Ability to develop, evaluate, and improve workflows and create process documentation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and deductive reasoning skills
- Ability to prepare reports, presentations, and statistical spreadsheets
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Technical/Vocational School in Coding required; bachelor's degree preferred
- One of the following certifications required: RHIT, CCS, CRC, CDIP, CCDS-O, CCDS, or CPC
