Lakeland Regional Health is seeking an Outpatient Coding Quality Education Specialist to conduct coding quality reviews, audits, and education for hospital outpatient coding. The role supports compliance with federal and payer policies, identifies improvement opportunities, and serves as a subject matter expert for coders, providers, and leadership.
This position develops and delivers coding training, prepares reports, supports coding denials review and appeals, and helps implement coding department policies and procedures. It also provides coaching and mentorship to coding staff and contributes to process improvement and data integrity.
- Associate degree and/or bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or another healthcare-related field
- 5+ years of acute care hospital outpatient coding experience and/or coding auditing experience
- 5–10 years of educational experience in a facility or consulting setting
- Certification: CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, modifiers, APCs, NCCI edits, OCE edits, and outpatient coding guidelines
- Experience with encoder applications, computer-assisted coding, spreadsheets, and databases
- Strong communication, presentation, data analysis, organizational, and critical thinking skills
