Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist

Bluestone

Bluestone is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist to support accurate patient chart review, documentation quality, and risk adjustment coding. This role focuses on identifying documentation gaps, supporting provider education, and improving capture of disease burden across Bluestone's patient population.

The position offers remote flexibility and follows regular weekday business hours with no evenings, weekends, or holidays. The role must be located in one of Bluestone's markets: Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Florida.

Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or a related field
  • Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC), Risk Adjustment Coding (RAC), or related risk certification required
  • Minimum of 2 years of healthcare coding experience with a focus on HCC coding and risk adjustment

Skills and experience

  • Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing medical records for documentation deficiencies and coding opportunities
  • Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines, especially as they relate to risk adjustment
  • Excellent communication skills for working with providers and clinical staff
  • Experience providing education and training to healthcare professionals
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance regulations and privacy laws
