Bluestone provides care for patients living with complex, chronic conditions and disabilities through multidisciplinary care teams that support preventive, proactive, and tailored care.
The Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist reviews patient charts to identify opportunities for providers to capture risk adjustment diagnostic codes accurately. This role helps ensure proper documentation, supports accurate disease capture, and contributes to the quality of Bluestone's documentation and coding practices.
This position offers remote flexibility and regular weekday business hours with no evenings, weekends, or holidays.
Education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or a related field
- Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC), Risk Adjustment Coding (RAC), or a related risk certification required
- Minimum of 2 years of healthcare coding experience with a focus on Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) coding and risk adjustment
Knowledge and skills
- Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing medical records for documentation deficiencies and coding opportunities
- Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines, especially as they relate to risk adjustment
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with providers and clinical staff
- Experience providing education and training to healthcare professionals
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote role
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance regulations and privacy laws
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
