Job Summary

The Corporate Coder works under the direction of the Health Information Corporate Coding Manager and is responsible for accurate coding and abstracting of clinical information from the medical record. This role supports coding data quality, integrity, and productivity standards across assigned Tenet facilities. The position also assists with productive coding to maintain DNFC, quality chart reviews, training new coders, and other related projects.

Requirements & Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in a Health Information Management discipline
  • Completion of at least one AHIMA-certified program with a correlating credential preferred, such as RHIA, RHIT, or CCS
  • 1 to 3 years of inpatient coding experience
  • Working knowledge of the MS Office suite
  • Strong technical background and electronic medical record experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Health Information Management discipline
  • 3+ years of inpatient coding experience
  • Experience coding in a large, complex health system
  • Pre-employment coding proficiency assessment required
