This role is hybrid and requires the candidate to reside in South Carolina. You will report to the Director, Medical Coding.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for clinicians regarding documentation and coding questions.
- Identify documentation improvement opportunities and partner with coding education teams to support improvement.
- Research and interpret coding guidelines and internal business rules to answer questions and resolve issues.
- Perform quality assurance on post-visit reviews and review encounters for missed opportunities.
- Address non-billable services and documentation deficiencies promptly.
- Support mergers and acquisitions by training acquired providers and handling documentation cleanup and process education.
- Lead special projects, including chart reviews, AWV completion analysis, EDAPS variance review, and HEDIS gap identification.
- Participate in payer calls and chart reviews to support accurate data submission.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required qualifications
- 3 years of medical coding experience or similar experience, including IPA and offshore coding management.
- RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC certification.
- Ability to travel occasionally for training or meetings, with overnight travel under 30% based on business need.
- Must reside in South Carolina.
Preferred experience
- Experience working with clinicians and supporting documentation improvement.
- Familiarity with quality assurance, chart review, HEDIS, and payer collaboration.
