This role is responsible for processing release of information requests in a timely and efficient manner while ensuring accuracy, customer service, and compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations. The associate safeguards patient privacy and ensures that only authorized individuals access medical information.
Key responsibilities include retrieving and returning medical charts, scanning and transmitting records, validating requests and authorizations, performing quality checks, maintaining equipment, handling incoming requests, and maintaining confidentiality, security, and proper documentation standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 2 years of prior experience in a medical records department or similar setting preferred
- Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to type 50 words per minute
- Ability to use fax, copier, and scanning equipment
- Willingness to learn new equipment and processes quickly
- Self-motivated and a team player
- Proven customer service skills
- Ability to multitask
