Certified Coder for Stony Brook Internists, UFPC.
This role is based in Stony Brook, NY and may be eligible for remote work at the manager's discretion after 90 days. The position is full time with a Monday through Friday schedule, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
The incumbent reviews and analyzes physicians' documentation, CPT, and ICD-10 diagnosis codes to ensure compliance with coding guidelines, reimbursement policies, regulations, and accreditation standards. Responsibilities include coding and abstracting information for reimbursement, resolving coding discrepancies, reviewing rejected claims, maintaining account and encounter reports, tracking record requests, and supporting coding and billing accuracy.
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based (CCS-P) certification
- Associate's degree, or 5 years of experience in lieu of a degree
- Working knowledge of coding requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
