USPI Memorial Hermann Surgery Center, Greater Heights is seeking a motivated Medical Records Specialist to join the team at a multi-specialty surgery center committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.
The role supports patients, families, physicians, and staff by admitting patients, processing paperwork, updating patient demographics and information in the system, collecting monies due, and documenting transactions in the billing system. The position also involves handling funds according to office procedures and building professional relationships with physician offices. Cross-training for other business office positions may be available.
Minimum qualifications and skills include:
- At least 2 years of hospital or medical records experience
- Knowledge of The Joint Commission standards
- Knowledge of accounts payable
- Ability to manage time effectively in a high-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Professional verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow hospital financial and admitting policies
- Understanding of insurance verification and collection processes
- Ability to build positive relationships with patients and staff
- Professional appearance
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills
