Codes inpatient, observation, and same day surgery (SDS) charts using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines.
Checks inpatient, observation, and same day surgery charts for completeness of documentation by working the coding queues.
Uses ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines to accurately and completely assign codes to each patient chart.
Communicates with physicians and other personnel as needed to locate and code certain emergency room, outpatient/clinic/ancillary records.
Maintains patient, departmental, and employee confidentiality at all times.
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred.
One year of coding experience preferred.
Other coding certifications, such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC), may be accepted with years of experience.
Intern/externships are considered in experience time.
Transcripts will be reviewed.
