Remote CDI Specialist III role with a large healthcare organization focused on improving the accuracy, integrity, and quality of patient data. This position works closely with physicians, healthcare providers, and coding professionals to support complete clinical documentation, appropriate coding, and reimbursement optimization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review patient medical records to accurately capture severity of illness and risk of mortality
- Collaborate with physicians, providers, and coding staff to ensure complete documentation
- Educate clinicians on documentation best practices
- Conduct audits to support compliance with regulatory requirements and standards
- Analyze patient data to identify trends, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities
- Help develop and implement CDI policies, procedures, and strategies
- Resolve documentation and coding discrepancies with the coding team
- Stay current on coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, or a related field
- RN or CCS preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in medical, surgical, trauma, surgery, or the Emergency Department
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly
- Proficiency with EHR systems and other healthcare IT systems
