The Telehealth Coding Coordinator is responsible for ensuring coding for telehealth consultations is accurate and appropriate. This role reviews and analyzes medical record documentation for inpatient and/or outpatient visits to determine correct charge and modifier assignments based on physician documentation. The position follows the Standards of Ethical Coding established by AHIMA and adheres to official coding guidelines. It also requires maintaining expert-level knowledge of telehealth regulations across multiple states and supporting Mercy's mission, values, and service standards.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
Experience
- Five years of coding experience in a medical setting
- Telehealth claims coding experience preferred
- CPT/HCPCS coding experience preferred
Certification
- CCS-P, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA if required
Skills and Knowledge
- CPT and HCPCS coding
- ICD-10-CM and CPT knowledge
- Computer skills with Windows
- Medical terminology
- Ability to meet deadlines and complete daily assignments with accuracy and consistency
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
