Key duties include:
- Submitting charges entered by medical staff
- Verifying insurance benefits and communicating them to staff
- Tracking EOBs and posting payments
- Issuing collection notices and following up with insurance companies
- Tracking liens with personal injury attorneys
- Correcting billing errors
- Sending and maintaining patient statements
- Creating reports for management
- Handling patient questions about charges and insurance benefits
- Training staff on insurance processes and collection improvements as needed
