Novant Health Urgent Care (formerly Doctors Care) is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to support outstanding medical claims resolution for urgent care and physical therapy services. This role focuses on researching unpaid, denied, unprocessed, underpaid, and overpaid claims, communicating with third-party payers and government agencies, and helping ensure timely reimbursement.
- Review and resolve insurance claims, denials, underpayments, and overpayments
- Correct billing errors and resubmit clean claims electronically or on paper
- Manage aging workbaskets and follow up on claims across assigned carriers
- Process EOBs, correspondence, EDI transactions, ERA files, and rejection reports
- Contact payers by phone to expedite claim and payment resolution
- Verify claim status and eligibility through web-based payer systems
- Assist with patient billing complaints and overflow customer service calls
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
Requirements & Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of medical billing experience
- Strong knowledge of Medicare claims processing regulations and payer-specific guidelines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred:
- Associate degree
- Medical billing, revenue cycle, or coding certification such as CRCR or CPC
